What we collect, why, and how to get rid of it

Top10Seeds is a reading site. We don't sell products here, we don't take payments here, and we don't sell data. This page explains the small amount of information we do handle.

Last updated: November 2026·Applies to top10seeds.com
The short version
  • We collect your email only if you give it to us, and basic analytics data from every visitor.
  • We use it to run the site and send email if you asked for it. Nothing else.
  • We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
  • You can ask to see or delete your data at any time by emailing us.
  • The site is for adults 18 and over, and we don't knowingly collect data from minors.

1. Who we are

Top10Seeds ("we", "us") operates the website at top10seeds.com. We publish strain rankings and grower guides. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.

This policy covers top10seeds.com only. Our seed store websites — Rocket Seeds, Mary Jane's Garden and Sonoma Seeds — publish their own privacy policies, and those apply when you shop there.

2. What we collect

We keep this deliberately minimal. There are only two categories of data on this site.

Information you give us

  • Email address — if you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us through a form
  • Message contents — whatever you choose to write when you contact us
  • Name — only if you volunteer it in a message

Information collected automatically

  • IP address and approximate location (city/country level, not your address)
  • Device and browser details — type, version, screen size, operating system
  • Pages you view, links you click, time on page, and the site you arrived from
  • Cookie identifiers used for analytics and remembering your preferences

We do not collect payment details, government identifiers, precise location, biometric data, or any account information — because this site has no login and no checkout.

3. Why we collect it

WhatWhyLegal basis (GDPR)
AnalyticsSee which guides people read, fix broken pages, decide what to write nextLegitimate interest
Email addressSend the newsletter you asked forConsent
Contact messagesReply to you, and investigate reported errorsLegitimate interest
Cookies (non-essential)Analytics and remembering preferencesConsent

We never use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal effect on you.

4. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use two kinds:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (security, remembering your cookie choice). These can't be switched off.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4, which tells us which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. IP addresses are anonymised where the platform supports it.

We don't run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or cross-site tracking on this website.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking analytics does not affect your ability to read anything on this site.

5. Email and newsletters

If you subscribe, we store your email address with our email service provider and use it to send strain guides, list updates and occasional seed offers from our three stores.

  • Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link
  • Unsubscribing removes you from the list; we may retain a suppression record so we don't email you again by mistake
  • We never buy email lists, and we never add you to a list because you visited the site

6. Who we share with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We have never sold personal data and have no plans to.

We share data only with service providers who help us run the site, and only as far as needed:

  • Hosting provider — stores the website and server logs
  • Analytics provider — Google Analytics, as described above
  • Email service provider — if you subscribe to the newsletter
  • Legal authorities — only where we are legally required to disclose

Each of these is bound by its own data processing terms. Some are based outside your country, which means your data may be transferred internationally — where that happens, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

7. How long we keep it

  • Analytics data: up to 14 months, then aggregated or deleted
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record
  • Contact messages: up to 24 months, so we can follow up on reported errors
  • Server logs: typically 30–90 days, depending on the host

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights. We honour these requests for everyone, regardless of jurisdiction.

  • Access — ask what we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data
  • Deletion — ask us to erase your data
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribe or revoke cookie consent at any time
  • Non-discrimination — we won't degrade the site or charge you more for exercising these rights
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You still have the right to know, delete, correct and opt out — email us and we'll action it.

To exercise any right, email us using the address in section 13. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting — usually by confirming you control the email address in question.

9. Age requirement

This site is intended for adults aged 18 or over (21+ where local law requires it). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, email us and we will delete it.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to subscriber data and site administration is limited to team members who need it, protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available.

No website can promise absolute security. If we ever suffer a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant authority as required by law.

11. Links to our stores

Every "Buy" button on this site leads to one of three seed stores: Rocket Seeds, Mary Jane's Garden or Sonoma Seeds. All three are operated by the same team that publishes this site, but they are separate websites with their own privacy policies, cookies and payment processing.

Once you leave top10seeds.com, this policy no longer applies. Read the store's own policy before ordering — they collect delivery details and process payments, which we never do.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date. Material changes — for example, adding a new category of data or a new provider — will be noted in the summary box at the top for at least 30 days.

13. Contact

Questions, data requests or complaints:

Email: privacy@top10seeds.com

If you're in the EU or UK and unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
