Our approach is simpler than commissioning lab tests: we read what the breeder actually publishes, score every strain against the same five criteria, and state the weighting openly at the top of each list. Where a number is missing or a claim can’t be checked, we say so rather than fill the gap.

How to Select the Right Cannabis Seeds for Your Cultivation Setup
Three variables decide which strain actually performs in your space: how much light you can give it, how much room it has, and how long your season runs. Get those right and the strain choice mostly makes itself. Every number on this site is the breeder’s published specification, so the real skill is knowing which of those numbers matter for your setup.
Start with your environment, not the strain. Indoors you control light and climate, so the limiting factor is usually height and canopy space. A 2×2 ft tent suits compact indicas and autoflowers; a 4×4 will take stretchier hybrids if you train them. Outdoors the constraint is the calendar, not the plant — a strain that finishes in late October is worthless where the rain starts in September, however good its numbers look. Match the finish date to your climate first, then compare everything else.
Photoperiod feminized vs. autoflower genetics. Feminized photoperiod plants stay in vegetative growth until you switch the light to 12/12. That means you decide the final size, you can clone the plant, and you get a recovery window if a week goes wrong. They generally yield more per plant. Autoflowers run on a fixed genetic clock — roughly three to four weeks of veg, then 8–11 weeks to harvest, regardless of light schedule. Less control, far less waiting, and no way to buy back a bad week. First grow or a short season: autoflower. Maximum weight from one plant: photoperiod.
Deciding what “best” means for your setup. Every list on this site is weighted differently because best isn’t one thing. If potency is the goal, the THC ceiling and resin density dominate and you accept a longer, fussier flower. If yield is the goal, canopy shape and finish time matter more than the number on the pack. If you grow somewhere humid, mould resistance outranks both. Decide which one you’re optimising before you compare strains — that’s exactly what the published weighting on each list is for.
Terpenes and why the same THC can feel different. THC percentage tells you raw psychoactive potential, not what the experience will be like. Terpenes shape the rest: myrcene skews sedating, limonene and pinene lift and sharpen, caryophyllene adds a peppery edge. Two strains testing at 24% can feel nothing alike. Where a breeder publishes a terpene profile, it’s listed on the strain card — where they don’t, we leave it out rather than guess.
If a listing doesn’t publish a yield or a finish time, that absence is information too. Treat it as unverified rather than assume it’s average.

What is Top10Seeds?
Top10Seeds is a ranking site for cannabis genetics. We publish numbered lists of strains in categories that matter to growers — potency, yield, outdoor resilience, autoflowers and beginner-friendliness — and each entry links to the store that stocks it along with its published specifications.
The site is published by the same team that runs Rocket Seeds, Mary Jane's Garden and Sonoma Seeds. That relationship is set out openly rather than presented as an independent review panel.
Do you sell seeds?
Not on this site. Top10Seeds has no stock, no checkout and no payments — every "Buy" button takes you to the strain's product page on one of our three stores. That means we can't look up an order, but it also means the rankings aren't a shop window.
How do you rank these strains?
Every list is built from the breeder's published specification — THC, yield, flowering time and difficulty — and scored against the same five criteria. The weighting is published at the top of each list, because a potency list shouldn't weight yield the same way a beginner list does.

Are the THC percentages lab-tested?
No — and we'd rather say that clearly than imply otherwise. Every figure on this site is the breeder's published specification, not an independent test of a retail sample.
Where a breeder publishes a range, we show the whole range, and the low end is the realistic home-grow number. Most growers land 3–6 points below the ceiling.
Which strain on your lists has the highest THC?
Bruce Banner leads at 29%. 2090, Biscotti and Intergalactic Budder all list a 30% ceiling at the top of their ranges.
Past about 28% the differences are small enough that phenotype selection and your grow environment matter more than the number on the pack.
What's the easiest strain for a first grow?
Afghan Kush. It's a Hindu Kush landrace: cold-tolerant, resistant to mould and pests, and finished in 6–8 weeks, so there's less time for something to go wrong.
If you want more yield or more familiar effects, Blue Dream is the other beginner pick — it tolerates a wrong pH and a hot week without sulking.
What's the difference between feminized photoperiod and autoflowering seeds?
Feminized photoperiod seeds need a 12/12 light change to flower, which gives you control over how long the plant vegs and how big it gets. They're cloned from cuttings and generally yield more per plant.
Autoflowers flower on a fixed genetic clock, usually 3–4 weeks after germination, regardless of light schedule — and finish in 8–11 weeks total. Less control, far less waiting.

How much will my grow actually yield?
Realistically 30–50% below the breeder's figure. A well-run home tent typically lands around 300–500 g/m² indoors, against published claims of 500–800.
The gap is almost always light intensity, canopy shape or harvest timing rather than genetics — every list has a Grower Guide covering how to close it.
Are cannabis seeds legal where I live?
It depends entirely on your country, and it's your responsibility to check before ordering. Cannabis seeds are sold as souvenir and collectable items in many jurisdictions, and importing them is restricted or illegal in others.
